Romanian citizenship can be obtained only through: birth (Romanian blood line), marriage to a Romanian (after 5 years of marriage and continuous stay in Romania), upon request (after 8 years of staying in Romania + knowledge of Romanian culture and language). For each of the previous you need to meet certain conditions. The Romanian passport can be obtained only for the Romanian citizens, after you have obtained it either through birth or through the other possibilities. Any Romanian citizen is obliged by law to transcribe their civil status documents obtained abroad. This means, for example: birth certificates of Romanian citizens born abroad; marriage certificates of Romanian citizens marrying abroad; death certificates of Romanian citizens dying abroad. In order to obtain the residence in a European country such as Romania, there are several possibilities. - For carrying out commercial activities (symbol D/AC) – the visa is issued to foreign nationals who act as shareholders or associates, have management or administrative duties, within commercial companies, Romanian legal entities, which are going to invest in Romania.
In according to the type of activity developed in Romania, a foreign citizen can apply for several types of work permits: seasonal work, trainees, permanent work, cross-border work, athletes or nominal work permit. It depends on the category of the job, but generally, a temporary stay permit can be extended up to one year, while highly experimented workers can stay up to two years.
You can travel and remain in Romania, while continuing to obtain income from the provision of the employment contract with a company registered outside Romania or from the activities carried out through a company registered by them outside Romania, by using information and communication technology, if you cumulatively meet some conditions. Romania Digital Nomad Visa only grants you residency in Romania and does not allow you to travel freely within the EU or Schengen Area. Separate visas may be required for other EU or Schengen countries.
